CARC (Chemical Agent Resistant Coating) is the standard for United States Army vehicles. It is the camouflage color or paint that you associate with military vehicles. If you wish to use liquid painting service for vehicles, trailers, or any other purpose; use of CARC paints is not possible. It is not permissible to use CARC paint for civilian purposes. But there are many options for consumers that are similar to CARC paints in terms of shades (but not properties).
About CARC Paints
CARC paints act as visual camouflage for military vehicles. But it offers several other benefits.
CARC are nonabsorbent paints, which means toxins during a chemical attack cannot penetrate the vehicles. Their use makes it easier to sanitize the vehicles that have been affected by the chemical attacks.
CARC colors are polyurethane paints. They are resistant to corrosion, water, hydrocarbons, acids, and harsh weather conditions. Vehicles with CARC paints can withstand high temperatures without the paintwork getting spoiled. CARC paints make the military vehicles more durable and safe.
The coating on CARC paint also helps to hide it from radars or infrared cameras and devices. The colors contain different types of pigments to avoid radars of the enemies. The green pigment offers protection in the form of chlorophyll infrared signature. The vehicles with such paints will blend with the trees in the natural surrounding and won’t register on radars.
Civilian use –
Use of CARC colors is prohibited for civilians and its use is against the law in many states. So, of course, you wouldn’t want to use them for personal use or sell them for commercial purposes without authorization. But if you like military colors, use of CARC paint options offers you a solution.
Use of CARC colors is also not feasible. The top coat requires several testing to perfect it for protection against chemicals. Even if someone is using it without authorization, it is not safe to use CARC paints. Not only can you get into legal hassles, it can also be unsafe for your health.
Even if you somehow get authorization to offer CARC painting service, the fumes from the paint can be a health hazard. If CARC paint compounds come in contact with exposed skin, it can be harmful for you. If you inhale the fumes, you can seriously risk your health. If it is spray painted there is a greater chance of you inhaling the fumes during the painting process.
CARC paints for military purposes are used with careful protection and under controlled environments. Such protection is not possible for civilians to arrange.
